Our Program Statement

West Ridge Early Education Centre firmly believes all children learn through play. We believe in a holistic approach, viewing all children as being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential. When we recognize and support children as being curious, competent
and capable, it results in providing a program that values and strengthens the children’s abilities. We strongly support the Ontario’s government’s philosophy as per “How Does Learning Happen?” Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014). There is perhaps
no relationship that holds greater responsibility or reward than the relationships we develop with children.

We also believe in an environment that encourages curiosity, giving children opportunities to explore. Further, we believe every child deserves the chance to a safe and caring environment in which to grow and develop.

Our goals for children, consistent with the Ministry of Education, includes the following:

  • Every child has a sense of belonging when he or she is connected to others and contributes to their world.
  • Every child is developing a sense of self, health and well-being.
  • Every child is an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind and their senses.
  • Every child is a capable communicator who expresses himself or herself in many ways.
